Communities in Iowa and Illinois will benefit from the SOO Green HVDC Link because it will generate more than $2.2 billion in economic output, create thousands of construction, operations, and maintenance jobs, and spur additional economic activity throughout the Midwest. Additionally, communities across Illinois and Iowa will benefit from over $50 million in increased tax revenue over 30 years that can be used for improving schools, maintaining roads and infrastructure, supporting emergency services, and funding other vital community programs.
SOO Green will create over 5,000 good-paying union jobs in Iowa and Illinois during the construction phase of the project. In addition, it will also stimulate job growth upwards of 60,000 in the upper Midwest.
The project will also generate revenue for local jurisdictions throughout its 50-year expected service life, supporting public services such as roads, emergency services, and schools.
Once the hiring process begins, we look forward to finding high-quality, high-character candidates for project positions.
