The SOO Green HVDC Link team is working with all appropriate agencies to obtain the proper permits. By virtue of installing the project underground along an existing railroad right-of-way, SOO Green avoids sensitive wildlife habitat and environmental impacts. Our approach simplifies the project’s permitting process and has garnered support at the local, state and federal agency levels.
The SOO Green HVDC Link is committed to meeting or exceeding all regulatory requirements.
A majority of the route is along existing rail rights-of-way, and SOO Green HVDC Link will notify landowners adjacent to the rail before crews begin surveys and other work.
In 2020, SOO Green HVDC Link hosted informational meetings in each of the project counties in Iowa.
