Iowa Utilities Board Postpones SOO Green HVDC Link Transmission Line Public Information Meetings

March 13, 2020 – Des Moines, Iowa – Due to ongoing efforts to limit public contact, the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) public informational meetings for the SOO Green HVDC Link transmission line project will be postponed. Public informational meetings were originally scheduled for March 16 in Bellevue and Dubuque; March 18 in Charles City and Mason City; and March 23 in Calmar and Luana. Rescheduled meeting dates and times will be announced as soon as possible.

The IUB posted the attached and linked letter to the official project docket on the afternoon of Friday, March 13.

The SOO Green HVDC Link project is creating an innovative new model for transmission development that will bury a state-of-the-art high-voltage direct current transmission line along existing transportation corridors. This will reduce Midwest transmission constraints and deliver renewable energy to customers across the United States with significantly reduced visual and environmental impacts. Once completed, SOO Green HVDC Link will run from Mason City, Iowa area to the Chicago, Illinois area.
